Home Insurance Solutions Personal Insurance

Most people arrive with one question. It's rarely the only one.

You don't need to know what you're looking for before we talk. Below are the four reasons people usually call. One of them is probably close enough.

“I want to know my income won't run out.”

The most common reason people call, and usually the one with the clearest answer. We work out what your savings will actually pay you each month, what Social Security and any pension already cover, and how large the remaining gap really is. Guaranteed income products can fill that gap well — in exchange for giving up access to the money for a period of years. Whether that trade is worth making depends entirely on the size of the gap.

“If something happened to me, would they be all right?”

Sometimes this is a large, complicated question. Often it's a small one with a short, inexpensive answer and a single conversation. We'll tell you which one you're looking at rather than pointing you at the largest policy you'd qualify for.

“I'm more worried about a long illness than about dying.”

Extended care is the expense most likely to undo an otherwise sound retirement plan, and the one people most often leave out of the arithmetic. There are several ways to prepare for it, they cost very different amounts, and the right one depends on your health and family history as much as your balance sheet.

“I have more than I need. I care what happens to it.”

When income isn't the pressing question, the pressing question is usually tax — what your heirs will owe, in what order accounts should be drawn down, and whether a portion is better positioned somewhere else entirely. This is the work TLAMB INC has done longest.

What the first call actually is

You've probably been called by people who sell what we place. So here's what twenty minutes looks like, before you give us any of them.

  1. You talk, we listen. When you plan to stop working, what worries you, what's already in place.
  2. You hear where you stand. Out loud, on the call — not in a report emailed later in exchange for more information.
  3. You decide whether there's a second conversation. If there isn't, we finish early and you have your afternoon back.

We don't ask for account numbers, statements, or Social Security numbers on a first call.

Book a 20-minute call

You’ll be asked a few short questions when you book, so the call starts somewhere useful. Prefer not to use a calendar? Send a message instead.
